Feathered friends

These very Christmassy white peacocks look very regal on our newly acquired 1920's painted sideboard. Its a lovely carved and detailed piece , and would fit well in a dining area, bathroom or bedroom.

New lamps

These are just a few of the new lamps in stock. Some of them are quite quirky and would be a definite feature in a room. The black hanging light pictured, is completely made from glass, and is in the style of the art nouveau era. The very colourful hanging one is also made from glass. It is huge ( and heavy) and quite different from any we have ever stocked before. I love the other two also, the squat crystal look lamp is stunning and also comes in a smaller version, and the taller black and crystal lamp is a work of art the way it has been so cleverly designed.

Victorian vases

These two magnificent Victorian mantel vases are hand painted with bluebirds, quite different from the usual roses or floral designs.

November rain

The continued rain is so welcome and I am sure is lifting everyones spirits to see green grass and healthier gardens everywhere. It was a busy day tidying up here after the storm, having a store in an old house certainly has its advantages, but the amount of cleaning and picking up debris everywhere can wear thin at times !!

Meanwhile inside, new pieces are slowly making their way into the shop after things being too hectic to get organised properly during the week. This little French chair is an original 1920's,the paint is a little bit chipped, but is easily touched up if a more perfect finish is preferred.I am unable to load any other photos tonight as my internet is on "go slow" ( reached its limit this month ) so will try to post some more over the next few days if things improve !

Outside in the rain

It was a great opportunity for taking photos yesterday with the temperature dropping to a lovely 23 and rain falling most of the day, as you can see in the photo of the rain gauges that are getting some good use these last few weeks. We have had some fantastic hand forged iron work pieces arrive and they are all so interesting. I especially love the barbed wire tree that is so Christmassy, but a great feature for the garden or courtyard ( indoors in the right house?) all year long.

Books and buttons

Some classic authors are featured amongst these old titles,Dickens,Longfellow and Tennyson, and a super sized early Websters dictionary.( Displaying these on your bookshelf will look very impressive) This fantastic old box of buttons is as found,no doubt someones very enthusiastic saving of buttons rescued from discarded clothing over many years. There are some really interesting ones amongst them all. The old hem measuring stick, crochet cottons and beaded pieces of fabric have all come from the same estate, and paint a little bit of the picture of the person who once owned them.

Updates

I have been away from the computer for a few days doing some buying,so will have new photos to post over the next week. These are some very cute new stone creations that are quite "seasonal",everything is starting to look very Christmassy here, pine cones are still an old favourite for a rustic decorating touch.
